What’s up with all the negativity?

Toxicity has become the norm

Online forums like Fishbowl, Reddit, and the dreaded comment sections on other social networks have become overwhelmingly negative and sarcastic.

Thought leadership is hard to trust

Is it actual advice or just thinly veiled self-promotion? There’s no telling.

Connections are increasingly elusive

Remote work and fewer in-person events have drastically limited opportunities for networking and making connections with other ad industry folks.

Internal Review is the advertising industry’s most honest, positive, and helpful place on the internet

I can’t shut up about advertising.

I originally started Stuff About Advertising because I just wanted to chat about ads with people who are as fascinated by them as I am. And I’m so happy I found a community of folks who have MANY opinions and love sharing them with me.

Along the way, I also discovered a whole bunch of people out there fumbling around the ad industry just like I did when I first started my career. And if I’m being honest, I still do my fair share of fumbling. 😄

In an effort to help those folks as much as I possibly can, I create a lot of free video content online. But I can only share so much in quick videos and comment replies with extremely low character counts. So I created this community to allow for more sharing, more support, and more good vibes between industry friends.

Internal Review is the space I wish I had as an untrained junior. It’s the space I would’ve turned to when I needed help standing up for myself as an ACD stuck in some tricky office politics. It’s the space I now turn to whenever I want to talk about the latest ad campaign but don’t want to trudge through all the overzealous LinkedIn thought leadership. I hope it becomes a valuable and trusted space for you too.
