Sites to Build Your Online Portfolio

So you’re ready to embark on the journey of creating an online portfolio! You’ll want to start by choosing a site builder. There are a ton of options out there, but the best one is simply whichever one works best for you. It all comes down to preference. Just make sure it’s easy to use and lets you whatever kind of customization you’re hoping to do.

*Note: I’m only mentioning pricing for personal plans because that’s usually how you can use a custom domain (which I highly recommend). But many of these have free options as well.

Squarespace

  • PROS: Lots of free templates, beautiful portfolio-specific templates, mobile-responsive, unlimited storage space, fairly user-friendly

  • CONS: Interface takes a bit of getting used to

  • PRICING: Personal plans are $12-16/month

Wix

  • PROS: Drag-and-drop, very user-friendly, lots of templates to choose from

  • CONS: Can’t change templates after the site is published, some users say there’s almost too much freedom making it overwhelming and easy to design a not-so-great looking site

  • PRICING: Personal plans are $14-18/month, comes with a free domain for a year
